Our story

Built in Cameroon, for the savings groups that hold communities together

The notebook has served njangis and tontines for generations. The problem was never the system. It was the absence of a record that every member could see and verify. We built that record.

The trust problem in contribution groups is real

Across Cameroon, millions of people belong to njangis, tontines, welfare associations, and family savings circles. These groups are not just financial tools. They are expressions of community — the way people access lump sums they could never save alone, support each other through emergencies, and build something together over time.

But the management of these groups has barely changed in decades. A treasurer keeps a notebook. Payments come through MTN Mobile Money or Orange Money with no official paper trail. The secretary records what they can, when they can. When they travel or fall sick or hand over to someone new, something always gets lost.

Circle Ledger exists because we believe the problem is not the people. It is the system. A shared, permanent, verifiable record — one that every member can access from any phone — changes the dynamics of a group entirely. When everyone sees the same numbers, disputes resolve themselves before they start. Trust becomes structural, not personal.

What we will not compromise on

These are not marketing phrases. They are the principles that shape what Circle Ledger does — and what it deliberately does not do.

Your data belongs to your group

We do not sell your group's financial data. We do not use it to train anything. What your group records stays with your group. You can export your full history at any time.

Admins are accountable to members

Circle Ledger is designed so that every action the admin takes is visible to the group. Approvals, rejections, disbursements — all of it is in the record. Nothing disappears quietly.

Works on any phone, any browser

Not everyone in your group has a high-end smartphone. Circle Ledger runs in any browser — Chrome, Firefox, the built-in Android browser. No app to download. No storage to free up.

Built for this context, not adapted from another

Amounts in XAF. Terminology that maps to how njangis and tontines actually work. We did not take a Western fintech product and translate it. We started from how your group operates.
